The NV Dept. of Ed. revised its requirements for license renewal in 2019 allowing for more flexibility in obtaining PD hours/credits. The new regulation now requires 15 hours each calendar year of PD for licenses issued on or after July 1, 2019. If your license was issued before this date, you can have any combination that equals 90 hours of PD. With that being said, our campus and system-wide PDs within Somerset can now be used towards your license renewal! I will be in charge of tracking all Somerset related PDs and inputting them into Infinite Campus. When you are ready to renew your license, Shannon Wallace, our Teacher Licensure POC at Academica will be able to provide you with your transcript with all Somerset PDs you have taken part in. Simply send her an email at shannon.chap[email protected].
Important:Only Somerset PDs will be inputted into IC. You will need to keep track of all other PDs you complete. These will need to be uploaded in your OPAL account: https://doe.nv.gov/Educator_Licensure/Online_Portal/

Additional PD information:
- If you are looking for PD opportunities outside of our system, you can visit this link as a starting point. It lists all of the Approved Continuing Ed Providers for NV. http://www.doe.nv.gov/Educator_Effectiveness/Educator_Develop_Support/Approved_Continuing_Education_Providers/
- Licensed employees may work with providers that are not on this list, and those PD credits seem to still be accepted by the Dept of Ed at this time. It should be noted that signing up to be on the Dept of Ed’s Approved Providers list is free and can be done by nearly any valid entity by filling out the appropriate form here: http://www.doe.nv.gov/Educator_Licensure/Professional_Development_Information_for_Providers/ I recommend that if a teacher comes across a provider not currently on the approved list, you have the teacher ask the provider if they would be willing to fill out the brief required form.
